The Splendor of God
Updated: 6 days ago
Ever witnessed an event and thought to yourself, “that wasn’t nothing but God!” Some call it a miracle, but what you witnessed or heard was the splendor of God.
We must learn to position ourselves for the splendor: the manifestation glory of God, the power, might, strength, the majesty, boldness and grace.
In the Old Testament in the book of Haggai, the glory of God was withheld because people were lovers of themselves, self-seeking and as a result they didn’t build the house of God. They played church, but God wasn’t in them. The Bible says they sowed much and brought in little, ate but it wasn’t enough...earned wages to only put it in a bag of holes.” Haggai 1:6.
Can you imagine being without the glory of God? There are many times mentioned in the Old Testament in which the glory of God, His splendor was only shown in certain places at a particular time. A great example of this is when Moses led the Israelites out of the slavery by the hand of God as a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. This showcase of God’s splendor provided protection from the enemy, direction, light and shade from the heat. Later, His splendor was shown holding up the Red Sea so the now freed slaves could walk through a dry seabed to the promised land. Inside the Ark of the Tabernacle in the holy of holies is the only place where the glory of God would be displayed and in addition, only the priest had the privilege of being a witness to the glory. Moses at the burning bush is just another wonderful example.
I could go on and on, but the point is God wants to show off. He doesn’t have to have a reason, but if you are a willing vessel, you are a perfect candidate. He wants to display His splendor through us and pour out His spirit. We are now longer limited with certain appointed people of God to be the only witnesses that would see His splendor. As born again believers, we are his temple and He wants to fill it with His glory. 1 Corinthians 3:16.
Hear me when I tell you, the God who created us and all the exotic tropical places we want to vacay, the one made Esther Queen, the one who wrapped himself in flesh in the womb of Mary….and oh, He’s the same God who raised Jesus from the dead, giving us access to eternal life lives inside of you and I! We no longer have to wait on a high priest to go to God and receive the glory or see the splendor. According to Haggai 2:9, The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. We are to do greater works than when Jesus walked the earth, but how? We do so as we are filled with the Spirit of God.
How to get in position?
Sin puts the veil right back on and blocks the glory. Repent for the kingdom is at hand. Agree with God whatever it is was wrong, confess the sin to Him and thank Him for forgiveness…and move on!
2. Be obedient.
Even children of God have temper tantrums but be obedient anyway. Get your flesh in check.
3. Have a spirit of expectancy.
Believe that ‘this’ is the day the Lord has made. Look for His glory at work, at school, at the grocery store or the kiddo’s game. Seek the kingdom of God before anything. Our God is faithful, so expect Him to make good on His splendor.
When was the last time you were in awe of His splendor? How did God manifest His glory?
