It's About Personal Relationship
What does having a personal relationship with Jesus mean to you?
The Bible says that Abraham was a friend of God. Friendship constitutes a relationship and God wants relationship with us.
The day we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, our relationship with God begins. The more we spend time in His presence, the more we desire Him.
A personal relationship with God requires trust.
We are to trust God as God. We are to trust when we don’t understand. We are to trust Him to catch us when we fall and trust Him to tell us the truth about ourselves. Can God trust us? Are we being good stewards of our gifts?
A personal relationship with God requires love.
God is love. A friend loves at all times. We only love Him because He chose us first. In this relationship, we cannot just say we love Him with our mouths and do not follow with actions (communication in word and deed). We must show Him we love Him by keeping his instruction.
While trust, love and communication are all factors that influence a wonderful personal relationship with Jesus. However, it’s through the Word of God that we know Him and our relationship with Him grows strong and flourishes.
